On Christmas, Tg and I take a hike or walk. Today it was a walk up to campus, to 'Squirrel Alley', for Bucket. Halfway there is a cement-walled yard outside a building that must be an art department, piled with all sorts of things I love to photograph (been there before). Including these trash cans, which I've shot at least three times before. Still love them.
I couldn't figure out how to expose the shot correctly—it was coming out too bright—so we called Ty. Who knew, of course. It has to do with the +/- button. And the little wheel.
A few years ago on Christmas Tg asked what I had learned the previous year. It's an interesting question.
Thanks to Ty, I learned how to use the +/- button. In just under the wire.
The one below didn't need editing. This photo made me squirm with happiness a year ago when I found it, and possibly even more today because of the dirty, dark rainwater that had gathered around it.
Ha! The "+/- button...and the little wheel." Perfect! Damn perfect, Sistine. Now, FYI, I generally keep my +/- wheel between -2/3 and -1 on my Canon. On my D50, it's usually kept at -1/3. Don't know yet where I'll keep in on my new camera (D90).
When your PA called I knew it was a photo emergency (since I'd either hear from you via posting, emailing, or txt in that order...but a CALL?!). Good to know that you now have a PA to call for you though.
Glad you worked it out. Great goddamn images. Now to get you into Photoshop manipulation.
Merry Christmas, yuns.
